Significant deterioration in mental health

The coronavirus pandemic has had a lasting impact on life worldwide. Measures to contain the spread of infection continue to have an impact on our everyday lives and can affect our mental health. The coronavirus period has therefore placed a heavy psychological burden on many people.

In particular, the fear of infection, which can be especially pronounced for people with pre-existing conditions, the feeling of loneliness in times of isolation, economic insecurity, worries about a secure professional future and increased family stress have an impact on our mental health.

Mental health in Germany has deteriorated significantly during the coronavirus pandemic

Symptoms of anxiety and depression increased from 2019 to 2022 Self-assessed mental health has decreased over the same period. This was reported by a group of researchers from the Robert Koch Institute in a preprint published online in October 2022. The representative data from telephone surveys conducted between March 2019 and June 2022 (GEDA & COVIMO) have yet to be scientifically evaluated, but reflect reliable trends in mental health indicators in the German adult population before and during the coronavirus pandemic.

How would you rate your mental health?

The good news is:

Just like physical fitness, mental health can also be influenced.
