Exercise promotes health, reduces stress and prevents illness. But what about the exercise and sports behaviour of people in Germany after two years of the pandemic? Have Germans sat out coronavirus or have they remained active? How many do sport regularly?

Almost half of Germans are not keen on sport
In the current Motion study of the Techniker Krankenkasse "Get moving, Germany!" (2022) surveyed 1,706 German adults about their sport and exercise behaviour. The results show that almost half of all respondents rarely or never exercise. More than a quarter of those surveyed stated that they had taken even less exercise in their everyday lives due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The good news is:
Sport and exercise have a positive effect on health. Exercise promotes health, reduces stress and even boosts mental performance. Regular activity in everyday life, such as cycling, climbing stairs or gardening, increases well-being.
