A study by the Department of Epidemiology and Public Health at University College London analysed the data of 120,813 men and women over 10 years and found that the risk of type II diabetes, coronary heart disease and stroke doubled with obesity, quintupled with grade one obesity (BMI 30-34 kg/m²) and was up to 15 times higher with second and third degree obesity than with people with a BMI <25 kg/m².
